About Me.
Hi, I’m Jake W., the person behind Moondrop Hollow. I’ve been reading Tarot for 13 years and became a certified Reiki Master Teacher in 2016. My practice draws from my certifications in hypnotherapy, life coaching, aromatherapy, and herbalism, alongside my work as a practicing magician and occultist with theological training. With a background in psychology, I’m particularly drawn to exploring the intersection between quantum concepts and occult principles.
What is Tarot?
The Origins and Modern Appeal of Tarot
Tarot cards first appeared in 15th-century Italy as a deck used for a game called tarocchi, never intended for anything mystical. These early cards were beautifully illustrated and commissioned by noble families, like the famous Visconti-Sforza deck. It wasn’t until the 18th century that Tarot began to take on a spiritual role, when European occultists started interpreting the cards as vessels of hidden wisdom. They connected Tarot to ancient systems like the Kabbalah and Hermetic philosophy, reimagining the cards as tools for divination and inner discovery.
Today, Tarot is embraced not just for fortune-telling, but as a meaningful part of modern spiritual practice. For many, it’s a way to reflect, reconnect, and explore personal truths. Whether used for guidance, meditation, or shadow work, the cards offer a visual language for the inner landscape—one that continues to evolve while honoring centuries of tradition.
